Abstract: The article by Eduard von Lenz (Head of the Hermitage collection of weapons from 1899 to 1919) was published in the «Almanac of the Army and Navy» in 1902. Eduard von Lenz – Head of the Hermitage collection of weapons from 1899 to 1919. The author briefly reviews the evolution of cold weapons in Europe in the 10th – 18th centuries, notes some of its design features connected with the pecularity of combat during this period. Particular attention is drawn to different trademarks on the weapons from Germany, Italy and Spain.
